When go­ing on a trop­i­cal va­ca­tion, we tend to stray away from the reg­u­lar on land ac­tiv­i­ties that we do on an every day ba­sis. There are so many wa­ter sport ac­tiv­i­ties for you to take part in, that it's a no brain­er that you'd like to try some­thing new. Luck­i­ly for us here in Trinidad and To­ba­go, we don't need to go on va­ca­tion to ex­pe­ri­ence wa­ter sports, we have every­thing we need right here.

Some of these wa­ter sports are even more in­tense that your cur­rent work­out rou­tine. Here are a few that you should con­sid­er try­ing:

Surf­ing

Many preach that surf­ing is a to­tal body work­out that you def­i­nite­ly can't beat, and it's hard to dis­agree. Surf­ing us­es your up­per body first­ly to pad­dle out, and then you have to use your legs and core to stay bal­anced and ride the waves. Surf­ing help with strength, agili­ty and even sta­mi­na, pro­mot­ing a gen­er­al­ly healthy lifestyle.

Stand-Up Pad­dle Board­ing

For this wa­ter sport, mas­ter­ing bal­ance and sta­bil­i­ty is key to be­com­ing a pro­fes­sion­al. It's ex­cel­lent for tight­en­ing your core- your mid sec­tion must stay strong the en­tire time. This ac­tiv­i­ty can im­prove car­dio­vas­cu­lar en­durance and al­so be a full body work­out. The on­ly way to know the mus­cles you're re­al­ly work­ing is to try it out your­self!

Swim­ming

On a hot day, many seem to flock to ei­ther the pool or the beach for a much need­ed cool down. Did you know that swim­ming is a low im­pact, full body work­out that you re­al­ly just can't beat? The re­sis­tance of the wa­ter is per­fect for build­ing strength and if you pick up the pace a bit, you'll even get some car­dio in.

Wind­surf­ing

For this par­tic­u­lar sport, there's one key el­e­ment that you'd def­i­nite­ly need- wind. Wind­surf­ing is not your typ­i­cal every day sport, but the phys­i­cal ben­e­fits are ex­cep­tion­al. Try­ing to keep your bal­ance on the board is per­fect for im­prov­ing core strength, and to be able to di­rect the sail, you'll need to use your up­per body strength. As you im­prove, wind­surf­ing can even be­come a great car­dio­vas­cu­lar work­out, hav­ing to bal­ance and di­rect the sail can re­al­ly make you work up a sweat.

Scu­ba Div­ing

While most divers may agree that scu­ba div­ing is more of a leisure­ly hob­by that it is an ac­tu­al sport, when done cor­rect­ly it can be a bit of both. The equip­ment alone just to get un­der the wa­ter can weigh up to 50 pounds and pow­er­ing through a long dive with that weight can be quite stren­u­ous.
