RHON­DOR DOWLAT-ROS­TANT

Two men es­caped se­ri­ous in­juries and/or pos­si­ble death when a gun­man opened fire on them in the Bel­mont area on Sat­ur­day.

Po­lice said at about 8 pm on Sat­ur­day June 5th, the two men, ages 40 and 21 years, were on Gloster Lodge Road in a ve­hi­cle, when they were ap­proached by an armed man who was wear­ing a ski mask.

The gun­man asked the 21-year-old what he was do­ing in the area, to which he re­spond­ed that he lived in there.  The gun­man then re­port­ed­ly point­ed the gun at him.

Po­lice said the 40-year-old, who was in the dri­ver’s seat, be­came fear­ful for their lives and start­ed the ve­hi­cle and sped off.

The gun­man is said to have opened fire on the ve­hi­cle, shoot­ing the front wind­screen, back glass and dash­board. No one was in­jured.

The po­lice were no­ti­fied, and a team of of­fi­cers led by Sgt Khan, Cpl Ram­lo­gan, PC Madeira, and PC Layne vis­it­ed the scene.

Sev­er­al spent shells were re­cov­ered.
