20 arrested and charged with breach of COVID regulations

Twen­ty per­sons were ar­rest­ed and charged yes­ter­day by of­fi­cers of the In­ter-Agency Task Force, Char­ford Court Base, for breach of the Covid-19 Reg­u­la­tions.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, of­fi­cers were con­duct­ing ex­er­cis­es in Port of Spain be­tween the pe­ri­od 4 pm and 8 pm, on May 7th, when they went to a recre­ation club lo­cat­ed on Hen­ry Street around 6.20 pm.

The of­fi­cers ob­served a to­tal of 20 per­sons en­gaged in recre­ation­al ac­tiv­i­ties, in­clud­ing con­sum­ing al­co­hol, in breach of the Covid-19 Pub­lic Health Reg­u­la­tions. The per­sons, ages 23 to 88, were ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Cen­tral Po­lice Sta­tion, where they were for­mal­ly charged with the of­fence. The TTPS con­tin­ues to urge cit­i­zens to ad­here to the Pub­lic Health Reg­u­la­tions and wel­comes in­for­ma­tion on pos­si­ble breach­es.
