A 35-year-old teacher was granted bail in the sum of $200,000 with surety, when he appeared before Magistrate Debbie Ann Bassaw at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
He had been charged with one count of Sexual Touching.
The accused is expected to appear in court on March 1, 2023.
According to police reports, on October 26, 2021, a 15-year-old student was allegedly sexually touched by a teacher while at school. The incident was later reported to the Child Protection Unit (Southern Division).
The officers investigated the matter, which led to the arrest of a suspect charged with sexual touching.
Charges were laid by PC Amora, while the investigation was supervised by Senior Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP Seecharan and Inspector Ramphal.
