A 25-year-old man from Diego Mar­tin died on Wednes­day af­ter­noon, af­ter crash­ing along the north­bound lane of the Diego Mar­tin High­way.

Che Weekes, of Topaz Ter­race, was the dri­ver of a sil­ver Nis­san Primera that was found bad­ly dam­aged and fac­ing the wrong di­rec­tion on the west­ern side of the high­way, just past Su­per­Pharm.

There were no oth­er oc­cu­pants in the ve­hi­cle and no wit­ness­es at the scene when po­lice ar­rived.

Of­fi­cers were in­formed that fire­fight­ers from the Four Roads Fire Sta­tion, led by act­ing Chief Fire Of­fi­cer Vin­cent, had re­moved Weekes from the car and tak­en him to the St James Med­ical Com­plex.

He was pro­nounced dead at 3.48 pm by Dr Ju­man.
