Po­lice ar­rest­ed three per­sons and seized a pis­tol, a firearm com­po­nent, two mag­a­zines, quan­ti­ties of am­mu­ni­tion, as well as cam­ou­flage cloth­ing, dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in the West­ern Polic­ing Di­vi­sion, yes­ter­day.

A re­lease from the Po­lice Ser­vice says the op­er­a­tion was an­oth­er el­e­ment in its ef­forts “to take il­le­gal firearms off the streets”.

“The seizures and ar­rests oc­curred when of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force and the Ca­nine Unit con­duct­ed an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise in the Diego Mar­tin dis­trict, be­tween 2 am and 7 am, on Thurs­day 26 May 2022,” the Po­lice Ser­vice has con­firmed.

Ac­cord­ing to the state­ment, dur­ing the ex­er­cise, of­fi­cers ex­e­cut­ed a search war­rant at the Rich­plain Road home of two sus­pects. The search re­sult­ed in of­fi­cers find­ing one P80 pis­tol, along with am­mu­ni­tion and the firearm com­po­nent, in ad­di­tion to a sus­pect­ed TTPS tac­ti­cal uni­form and five ar­ti­cles of cam­ou­flage cloth­ing.

Both sus­pects, who were at the house at the time of the ex­er­cise, were ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the dis­cov­er­ies.

The same par­ty of of­fi­cers then pro­ceed­ed to Lanse Mi­tan Road, Care­nage, where they found one ar­ti­cle of cam­ou­flage cloth­ing at the home of a male sus­pect.

The ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Re­my, Supt. Hen­ry, and ASP Brown.  It was su­per­vised by Sgt. (Ag.) Car­mona and Cpl (Ag.) Khan, all of the West­ern Di­vi­sion.
