There are now 622 COVID-19 cases emerging among staff and students in schools nationwide since the start of the third academic term.
Presenting the figures for cases between May 2-8 provided by the Ministry of Education on Wednesday, Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh said 306 cases came from 144 schools. The week prior saw 288 cases from 243 schools, while the first week of the term saw 28 instances from 16 schools.
Based on the numbers for the third week of the term, St George East had the most confirmed cases, with 83 coming from 30 schools.
Closely following was Port-of-Spain with 82 positive cases from 34 schools.
Caroni and Victoria districts tied with 44 confirmed cases coming from 24 and 25 schools respectively.
North East and St Patrick had 19 positive cases coming from 11 schools each. South East had the fewest cases with 15 confirmed from nine schools.
