On Oc­to­ber 20, 2022, Al­i­mau's Wings of Love Home for the El­der­ly ho­n­oured its old­est res­i­dent, Mr Al­fre­do George who cel­e­brat­ed his 102nd birth­day on that day. Mr George has been a res­i­dent of the Home for the past six (6) years.

Join­ing the cel­e­bra­tion was Ms Nyi­i­da An­drews, In­spec­tor I of the Di­vi­sion of Age­ing of the Min­istry who pre­sent­ed the cen­te­nar­i­an with his Cer­tifi­cate of Ho­n­our and Achieve­ment, a fruit ham­per cour­tesy NAMDE­V­CO, and a birth­day cake spon­sored by the Kiss Bak­ing Com­pa­ny.

Fond­ly known as “Pops”, Mr George grew up on Tu­na­puna Road, Tu­na­puna and moved to Red Hill, D’abadie in 1962. He worked as a crane op­er­a­tor and was al­so an ac­tive mem­ber of the Red Hill Vil­lage Coun­cil.

Mr George al­so served as a pas­tor, start­ed a Sun­day School and church and ac­cord­ing to rel­a­tives he nev­er missed an op­por­tu­ni­ty to tell peo­ple about the love of the Lord. His favourite Bible verse comes from Philip­pi­ans 4:13 which states “I can do all things through Christ which strength­ens me.” You will al­ways hear Him say “give Him (God) praise.”

The fa­ther of four, grand­fa­ther of sev­en, great-grand­fa­ther of eight, and great-great-grand­fa­ther of one has no chron­ic ill­ness­es to date and still en­joys eat­ing ice cream, ground pro­vi­sion and a good cas­sa­va pone.
