Alleged gang member held at party

Of­fi­cers from the Port-of-Spain Task Force ar­rest­ed an al­leged mem­ber of the 1800 gang dur­ing a par­ty on Sun­day morn­ing. Guns and am­mu­ni­tion were al­so seized.

Po­lice said around 7 am, of­fi­cers went to Co­coa Road off Mon Re­pos Road, Mor­vant, af­ter a tip-off which stat­ed the al­leged gang­ster was at a par­ty in the area.

When of­fi­cers ar­rived par­ty­go­ers scat­tered and ran in dif­fer­ent di­rec­tions. Of­fi­cers pur­sued a man re­port­ed­ly seen with a ma­chine gun.

The man was held and an Ex­tar EP9 9mm gun con­tain­ing ten rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion was seized.

The al­leged gang mem­ber was ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Besson Street Po­lice Sta­tion.

Po­lice­woman’s broth­er stabbed to death

The both­er of a po­lice­woman was stabbed to death dur­ing an al­ter­ca­tion out­side a bar in Tabaquite ear­ly Sun­day morn­ing. 

A 39-year-old man, al­so from Tabaquite, was in po­lice cus­tody yes­ter­day af­ter sur­ren­der­ing to of­fi­cers.

Po­lice iden­ti­fied the vic­tim as Julien Hall, 41, from Tabaquite who was a Chem­i­cal Mix­er at WASA.

Re­ports stat­ed that around 2.30 am, the sus­pect con­tact­ed of­fi­cers from the Gran Cou­va Po­lice Sta­tion claim­ing that he had killed a man in self-de­fence. Mean­while, the vic­tim was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he suc­cumbed to his in­juries.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors were re­view­ing CCTV footage tak­en from out­side the bar and speak­ing to wit­ness­es.

Sol­dier shoots gun­man

One of two men, who at­tempt­ed to shoot a mem­ber of the T&T Reg­i­ment, was shot and in­jured on Sun­day.

A po­lice re­port stat­ed the 38-year-old Lance Cor­po­ral, who is as­signed to Camp Cu­mu­to, went to his Heights of Gua­napo gar­den around 7.45 am when the two sus­pects armed with a pis­tol and ri­fle con­front­ed him.

One of the men opened fire and the sol­dier re­turned fire, in­jur­ing him in the leg.

The oth­er man fled. The in­jured sus­pect was held by of­fi­cers.
