As COP28 kicked into another gear on Saturday morning in Dubai, ANSA McAL CEO, Mr Anthony Sabga III signalled the conglomerate's intention to lead the Caribbean region into a greener future. The Group CEO signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kenesjay Green Limited which sets the stage for private sector acceleration of green energy projects in the Caribbean.
The signing took place at the NDC Partnership Pavilion at the COP28 venue where Minister of Planning and Development, Pennelope Beckles attended. Also in attendance were Dominica's Minister for the Environment, Rural Modernisation, Kalinago Upliftment and Constituency Empowerment, Cozier Frederick as well as St Kitts and Nevis' Minister of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, Domestic Transport, Information, Communication and Technology and Posts, Konris Maynard.
The MOU aims to accelerate the development of new, and commercially viable green energy projects in the Caribbean.
It was done during the session on “Regional Green Hydrogen Developments in the Caribbean”.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Sabga, stated, “I am proud of this first step taken today to partner with KGL to explore
projects to harness the Caribbean’s natural resources to provide more sustainable solutions that impact the lives of the people of our region. It is our intent to bring considerable resources in people, capital and technology to support the efforts of our region in the fight for a greener future. This resonates deeply with our purpose."
Meanwhile, Kenesjay Green Limited founder and chairman, Philip Julien, said, "This MOU with a Caribbean corporate heavyweight like ANSA McAL is an important next step in advancing potential green projects in the region, including other geothermal-rich countries in the Caribbean."
