The Anjuman Sunnat-ul-Jamaat Association (ASJA) says it is hopeful that under the UNC administration, the developmental and religious needs of the Sunni Islamic community will be given thoughtful consideration.

In congratulating Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, ASJA also emphasised the importance of "ensuring adequate Sunni Islamic perspectives are reflected in your Cabinet for the inclusive formulation of public policy, especially in areas that directly affect our community’s values, education, and way of life."

The body says it remained committed to constructive engagement with the government in support of national development and social harmony. "We look forward to strengthening our longstanding partnership in service of the wider society," the statement said.
