After 32 days of waiting, a forensic autopsy will finally be performed on the body of 41-year-old Iyana Castanada tomorrow.

Castanada’s body has remained at the mortuary of the Scarborough General Hospital since April 11, when she collapsed and died at Top Hill, Mason Hall.

Doctors conducted a clinical autopsy shortly after her death and raised concerns of possible foul play.

The case was then referred to the police and classified as a forensic matter, but without a resident forensic pathologist in Tobago, the autopsy was delayed, stalling the police investigation and leaving the family in limbo.

Police confirmed that the forensic autopsy is now scheduled for tomorrow.

Castanada’s death remains under investigation.

A 36-year-old male friend told officers she complained of belly pains after drinking moringa tea and collapsed soon after.

However, a woman close to Castanada claimed she had been cooking all day, then went to bathe in an outdoor pool while liming—without cooling down first.

When she started to shiver, she was allegedly given tea to help.

Castanada’s family has been unable to bury her or get closure while waiting for answers.
