A 62-year-old man was beaten and he and his wife were tied up during a violent home invasion in Barrackpore on Sunday night.
Around 8 p.m., the man was in the kitchen of their GP Road home when three masked intruders entered. One of them struck him several times in the head, causing him to cry out in pain. His 47-year-old wife, who was in the bathroom at the time, rushed to his aid after hearing his screams.
The suspects then forced the couple into their bedroom and tied their hands and feet using a bedsheet. They stole a black iPhone 10 valued at $1,200, a black Samsung 10s phone worth $1,300, a brown wallet containing $300, gold jewellery, and $800 in cash.
The intruders escaped in the couple’s white Nissan AD wagon, valued at $39,000, which was parked in the yard.
The victims later freed themselves and reported the incident to the Barrackpore Police Station. Officers from the Southern Division Task Force and Barrackpore Police conducted inquiries, but the suspects and the stolen items were not recovered.
