Op­po­si­tion Leader and Ari­ma MP Pen­ne­lope Beck­les says she is keep­ing a close watch on the sit­u­a­tion in Aripo fol­low­ing re­cent ad­verse weath­er.

In a Face­book post to­day, the Ari­ma MP said she vis­it­ed the com­mu­ni­ty at 6:30 am, ac­com­pa­nied by Vil­lage Coun­cil Pres­i­dent Valen­tine, to as­sess the ex­tent of the dam­age.

“The re­cent ad­verse weath­er has sig­nif­i­cant­ly af­fect­ed the com­mu­ni­ty of Aripo,” Beck­les said. “I want to as­sure res­i­dents that I, along with Coun­cil­lor Ker­ry-Ann Kas­mal­l­ey, have made the nec­es­sary con­tacts with the Tu­na­puna Pi­ar­co Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion and the Min­istry of Works to as­sess and ad­dress the sit­u­a­tion.”

Beck­les al­so not­ed that she had been in reg­u­lar con­tact with the prin­ci­pal of the Aripo RC Pri­ma­ry School to en­sure stu­dents are sup­port­ed ahead of the up­com­ing Na­tion­al Tests.
