A midday shooting at Second Caledonia, Laventille left one man hospitalised while a police officer and a female minor managed to escape injury after gunmen opened fire on their car yesterday.
The injured man who lives at O’Connor Street, Blanchisseuse was said to be in a stable condition up to last night.
Police said the three were in a brown Nissan Sentra which had been parked along Parris Boulevard, Paradise Heights, Second Caledonia, Morvant, around 12.28 pm when men began shooting at the vehicle.
The occupants which included a police officer from La Fillette Village along with a young girl, were forced to abandon the car.
They reportedly fled down a grassy track and hid as the gunmen left.
Officers who responded to the shooting later found the three.
They were assisted by nearby residents to get the injured man into a police vehicle, following which he was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.
