Blanchisseuse man injured in Morvant shooting; cop and child escape unharmed

A mid­day shoot­ing at Sec­ond Cale­do­nia, Laven­tille left one man hos­pi­talised while a po­lice of­fi­cer and a fe­male mi­nor man­aged to es­cape in­jury af­ter gun­men opened fire on their car yes­ter­day.

The in­jured man who lives at O’Con­nor Street, Blan­chisseuse was said to be in a sta­ble con­di­tion up to last night.

Po­lice said the three were in a brown Nis­san Sen­tra which had been parked along Par­ris Boule­vard, Par­adise Heights, Sec­ond Cale­do­nia, Mor­vant, around 12.28 pm when men be­gan shoot­ing at the ve­hi­cle.

The oc­cu­pants which in­clud­ed a po­lice of­fi­cer from La Fil­lette Vil­lage along with a young girl, were forced to aban­don the car.

They re­port­ed­ly fled down a grassy track and hid as the gun­men left.

Of­fi­cers who re­spond­ed to the shoot­ing lat­er found the three.

They were as­sist­ed by near­by res­i­dents to get the in­jured man in­to a po­lice ve­hi­cle, fol­low­ing which he was tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions are con­tin­u­ing in­to the in­ci­dent.
