Blind man shot in Marabella

A vi­su­al­ly im­paired man was shot at his home in Mara­bel­la on Sat­ur­day.

The 61-year-old man of New City Av­enue told po­lice he was at his home around 9.30 am when he heard loud ex­plo­sions and felt a burn­ing sen­sa­tion to his but­tocks.

He tried with­out suc­cess to call the emer­gency ser­vices, then went to West Bayshore and asked a friend to call the po­lice.

The po­lice and am­bu­lance ar­rived and he was tak­en to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. Based on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, the of­fi­cers went to New City Av­enue where they saw a sil­ver Toy­ota Aqua with bul­let holes to the rear.

The ve­hi­cle was wrecked and tak­en to the po­lice sta­tion pend­ing pro­cess­ing.

Of­fi­cers re­trieved six spent 9mm cas­ings to­geth­er with three rounds of live 9mm am­mu­ni­tion at the scene.

Mara­bel­la po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
