A 16-year-old boy is now in po­lice cus­tody af­ter al­leged­ly stab­bing a home­less man dur­ing an ar­gu­ment on Thurs­day.

The man, who has been iden­ti­fied as Di­al Seep­er­sad, 44, died on the scene.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, Seep­er­sad was stand­ing along the pave­ment at Dook­iesingh Street in St Au­gus­tine when he got in­to an ar­gu­ment with the teenag­er, dur­ing which the teen al­leged­ly pulled out a knife and dealt him one stab.

The man slumped to the ground where he died.

An eye­wit­ness called the po­lice and with­in min­utes the teenag­er was ap­pre­hend­ed and tak­en in­to po­lice cus­tody for ques­tion­ing.
