The Buccoo Reef Inter-Island fast ferry will suspend its vehicle transportation service for two weeks next month.
The Trinidad and Tobago Inter-island Transportation Company Limited (TTIT) made the announcement yesterday, as it advised the public that this interruption will be due to the fact that the shore-based Fast Ferry ramp at the GSS Terminal in Port-of-Spain is scheduled to be overhauled in keeping with the manufacturer’s advice. The works are scheduled to commence on November 8 for a period of two weeks.
During the period of the project works, the Buccoo Reef, Galleons Passage and the MV Cabo Star will be the only vessels servicing the inter-island route.
The works will result in the temporary relocation of the Buccoo Reef from its main berth, as the Fast Ferry ramp will be out of use.
According to the statement, effective November 8, the following will apply: The Buccoo Reef will be relocated to Berth #3 at the Cruise Ship Complex, with the temporary suspension of vehicles; the Galleons Passage will continue to operate from its berth at the GSS Jetty (POS), transporting 400 passengers and 60 vehicles; the APT James will be taken out of service and the Cabo Star will sail Monday to Sunday departing from Trinidad at 2 pm and from Tobago at 11 pm.
All vessels will berth at the Port of Scarborough as normal.
The TTIT management apologised for any inconvenience caused by these works, which it said are necessary for the continuation of the full service to and from Tobago.
