Gun­men opened fire on the home of the son of mur­dered busi­ness­man Dan­ny Guer­ra at Guy’s Trace, North Oropouche, on Sat­ur­day evening, leav­ing res­i­dents shocked and con­cerned.

No one was in­jured, but the house was rid­dled with bul­lets.

Res­i­dents said the prop­er­ty is lo­cat­ed with­in a gat­ed com­mu­ni­ty with con­trolled ac­cess, re­quir­ing iden­ti­fi­ca­tion for en­try. They ques­tioned how the gun­men gained ac­cess, not­ing that the main gate is the on­ly en­try point. Neigh­bours are call­ing on po­lice to ques­tion the se­cu­ri­ty guard on du­ty.

Some res­i­dents said they are now liv­ing in fear fol­low­ing Guer­ra’s killing at his of­fice in Ve­ga de Oropouche and added that his fam­i­ly has been forced to lim­it their move­ments for safe­ty.

One res­i­dent said ten­sions re­main high and warned the sit­u­a­tion could es­ca­late fur­ther.

Guardian Me­dia was un­able to gain ac­cess to the gat­ed com­mu­ni­ty dur­ing a vis­it. Po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the shoot­ing are on­go­ing.
