Dr. Roshan Parasram, Pundit Mukram Lloyd Sirjoo and Shankar Bidaisee have been approved by cabinet to sit on the Council of the Medical Board.
The announcement from the Ministry of Health comes after the ministry stated that cabinet "had serious concerns" with respect to one of the persons who was recently recommended.
The material body reconsider its nomination. Despite the concerns raised the body maintained its selection.
A statement from the Ministry on Monday read, "Consistent with his statutory duty the Minister has recommended the names that were received of the following nominated persons to the Cabinet and Cabinet in accordance with its duty has today approved the following persons."
i) Dr. Roshan Parasram, Chief Medical Officer; section 6(1) (a);
ii) Pundit Mukram Lloyd Sirjoo; section 6(1) (d), a person nominated by the Inter-Religious Organisation;
iii) Mr. Shankar Bidaisee; section 6(1) (e), an Attorney at Law nominated by the Law Association of Trinidad and Tobago.
