As new­ly formed Trop­i­cal Storm Ernesto makes its way to­wards the Lee­ward Is­lands, Caribbean Air­lines is an­nounc­ing the can­cel­la­tion of its flights to/from St Maarten and An­tigua on Tues­day, Au­gust 13th. BW416/417 will now op­er­ate the Trinidad-Bar­ba­dos-Ja­maica sec­tors re­turn, over­fly­ing St Maarten. CAL’s BW 280/281 ser­vice from POS-An­tigua re­turn is al­so can­celled.

The air­line says this is due to the clo­sure of both St. Maarten’s Princess Ju­liana In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port (SXM) and An­tigua’s V.C. Bird In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port. The V.C. Bird In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port will close at 8pm Mon­day night and is ex­pect­ed to re­open at 3pm on Tues­day af­ter­noon. The Princess Ju­liana In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port will close on Tues­day morn­ing at 10:00am and re­open on Thurs­day morn­ing at 7am.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­lease, pas­sen­gers im­pact­ed by these can­cel­la­tions will be re-ac­com­mo­dat­ed on the next avail­able flight.
