A Santa Cruz man was robbed of $35,000 in cash after bandits rammed his car on the Port-of-Spain Flyover, forcing him to pull over.
Police said the man, of La Canoa Road, Santa Cruz, was driving his Nissan Sylphy north across the flyover leading off the Beetham Highway at 4.40 pm on Tuesday, when the car behind ran into him.
Pulling to the side, he got out to inspect the damage to the rear of the car, leaving his 36-year-old friend seated in the passenger seat.
It was reported that two men emerged from the second car, with one of them assaulting the driver while the second man attacked the male passenger who had remained in the car.
The suspects later searched the victim’s car and took an envelope containing $35,000 in cash from under the driver’s seat before speeding off.— Anna Lisa Paul
