Carenage man accused of sexual penetration of girl

A Care­nage man was grant­ed $300,000 when he ap­peared be­fore a Port-of-Spain mag­is­trate charged with sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion of a girl.

A po­lice re­lease said Trevin Mat­tadeen, 23, ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Adia Mo­hammed on Tues­day.

He was grant­ed bail with a sure­ty in the sum of $300,000 to be ap­proved by a Reg­is­trar of the Court, or a cash al­ter­na­tive in the sum of $30,000.

He was al­so or­dered to not have any di­rect or in­di­rect in­ter­ac­tion with the vic­tim.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to May 4.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the girl al­leged that Mat­tadeen sex­u­al­ly pen­e­trat­ed her dur­ing the pe­ri­od Jan­u­ary 1, 2018 and March 31, 2019.

He ar­rest­ed on April 1, 2021, by of­fi­cers of the West­ern Di­vi­sion’s Child Pro­tec­tion Unit (CPU) and charged the fol­low­ing day by WPC Cox.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were su­per­vised by Supt Claire Guy-Al­leyne and In­sp. Aroon, both of the CPU.
