Caroni Central MP Arnold Ram wants the Ministry of Works to repair the Carlsen Field Connector Road.
Ram spoke with Guardian Media when he went to get a first-hand look at the road rehabilitation works taking place at Edinburgh 500 on Thursday. Ram said he was pleased to see the works commence, having written the Ministry of Works in April 2024 requesting four roads be rehabilitated in that area.
Ram said residents began complaining about the craters in the road and the hike in taxi fares to get in and out of the community. He said the Connector Road is located at the southern end of Cassia Boulevard and can reduce traffic congestion in Chaguanas by allowing traffic heading south to connect with the Carlsen Field overpass at Chase Village, without having to enter into the already clogged up Chaguanas area.
He said around 300 metres of the roadway needed to be upgraded to make the area accessible.
