A 31-year-old man suffered head injuries after he was beaten during a home invasion in Claxton Bay on Wednesday. Police said around 11.45 pm, a 46-year-old woman, who owns a business, arrived at her Pranz Gardens home in her black Kia Sportage. She was accosted in the garage by three suspects, armed with a firearm and a cutlass. They forced her into her home, where they met the other victim, a 31-year-old man. They struck him several times on the head and face with the gun butt and tied the hands of both victims. The bandits then ransacked the house, leaving with cash, jewellery, alcohol, and cellphones.
Fyzabad man robbed
A Fyzabad businessman was robbed of $10,000 at gunpoint after bandits followed him home from the bank. Police said the 68-year-old man of Delhi Road arrived home around 4.25 pm after depositing a large sum of money at the Gulf City branch of First Citizens Bank.
He had just parked his white Nissan panel van in his yard and was about to place a black shoulder strap bag containing $10,000 and a cheque on the front seat when a man opened the front left passenger door and snatched the bag from his hand. As he ran out of the yard, the victim pursued him, but the suspect and another man entered a silver Toyota Aqua and drove off.
PC Guerra, along with officers from the La Romaine Police Post, intercepted the vehicle along Mosquito Creek and arrested the 20-year-old driver of Diego Martin. He was the lone occupant in the vehicle at the time. Investigations are continuing. - sascha Wilson
