Act­ing Po­lice Com­mis­sion­er Mc­Don­ald Ja­cob is call­ing on cit­i­zens to work with the T&T Po­lice Ser­vice (TTPS) to help solve mur­ders.

Ja­cob made the plea in a state­ment is­sued yes­ter­day, in re­sponse to a quadru­ple mur­der in Diego Mar­tin which claimed the lives of two men, a 27-year-old moth­er of three and a three-year-old boy.

Ja­cob called on cit­i­zens to put aside “er­ro­neous rhetoric about not be­ing able to trust the po­lice” and to pro­vide in­for­ma­tion anony­mous­ly through 800-TIPS and the TTPS App.

“Don’t sit on in­for­ma­tion that can help not on­ly a fam­i­ly, but all of us, to heal from this at­tack that af­fects every­one,” Ja­cob said.

“If we want light to pre­vail, then we must do what is right, when you see some­thing, please say some­thing to the po­lice,” he added.

While Ja­cob of­fered con­do­lences to the vic­tim’s fam­i­lies and of­fered coun­selling from the TTPS’s Vic­tim and Wit­ness Sup­port Unit, he ex­pressed hope that the TTPS will be able to de­liv­er “time­ly jus­tice” to them.

He said crime scene in­ves­ti­ga­tors and homi­cide de­tec­tives were work­ing as­sid­u­ous­ly to ap­pre­hend the per­pe­tra­tors.

“If there is CCTV footage we will use it, wit­ness­es will be in­ter­viewed, thor­ough in­ves­ti­ga­tions are un­der­way, and once again I am ap­peal­ing to any­one who has in­for­ma­tion that can lead to the cap­ture and ar­rest of these mur­der­ers, we need you to come for­ward,” he said.
