According to a media release, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts, as well as the Airports Authority of Trinidad & Tobago (AATT), the Ministry of Works and Transport, and Tourism Trinidad Ltd have been working to increase airlift to Trinidad by way of strategic alliances with Copa Airlines and other airlines that serve Latin America. The ministry says this latest increase in service allows for more access to the Panama market and opportunities for increased leisure and trade links.

Copa Airlines, the flag carrier of Panama, has been ramping up its network expansion plans and now flies to 85 destinations in 32 countries across Central, South, North America, and the Caribbean. Less than a month ago, the airline announced plans to fly to three new destinations - Tulum, Mexico, Florianopolis, Brazil, and Raleigh-Durham, USA.
