Investigations are continuing into the killing of a 40-year-old man in Cunupia yesterday morning.
Police said around 1 am they responded to a call from a resident at Monroe Road, Cunupia where they found two men with chop wounds in the living room and bathroom area.
They were told by a 15-year-old, who lives at the house, that he heard the dog barking inside the house and woke up to check. It was then he saw his 29-year-old uncle and another man, identified as Michael Samaroo, fighting in the bathroom area.
He raised an alarm and his father and brother managed to restrain the two men. His uncle and Samaroo were taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where Samaroo succumbed to his injuries.
The 29-year-old is said to be in critical condition.
Police found a knife and cutlass at the scene.
Investigations are ongoing to determine exactly what happened.
Woman shot returning from fete
A 19-year-old woman was shot minutes after returning from a Carnival party on Tuesday morning.
Police said around 3.30 am, the woman of Carapo was in the company of a man and had just reached the Maloney area in the vicinity of Building 6.
As she exited her friend’s car to relieve herself, gunshots rang out and she felt a burning sensation on the right side of her body.
She was taken to the Arima General Hospital for treatment.
Police said the woman’s right lung was punctured in the shooting.
Car stolen in El Dorado
A 20-year-old man of Arima Old Road, Arouca had his car stolen in El Dorado on Monday morning.
Police said around 5.30 am the victim parked his white Nissan AD Wagon valued at $40,000 along Wilkinson Street, El Dorado, secured it and went away.
When he returned five hours later his car was gone along with his bank cards and valuables which were inside.
Gun, ammo seized
Police officers recovered a firearm, ammunition and narcotics in El Dorado during an anti-crime exercise.
Around 4 pm officers on mobile patrol went to a bushy area at College Road where they found one Glock 45 Pistol fitted with a magazine containing 14 rounds of 9 mm ammunition. They also found 500 grammes of compressed cannabis.
