Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing the mur­der of a man in La Hor­quet­ta on Sun­day night.

Of­fi­cers were on pa­trol around 10.20 pm on Sun­day, when they re­ceived a re­port of a man ly­ing on the street along De Fre­itas Boule­vard, near the Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) sta­tion.

When they ar­rived, they found the body of a man with gun­shot wounds to his head.

Crime Scene In­ves­ti­ga­tors al­so vis­it­ed the scene and found a spent .40 cal­i­bre shell, a live round of .40 cal­i­bre am­mu­ni­tion, and a de­formed bul­let. Po­lice said the man is known on­ly as “Shorto”.

Of­fi­cers of the Re­gion II Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

A Va­len­cia cou­ple was tied up and robbed by ban­dits who stormed their home ear­ly on Sun­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the 39-year-old man and 28-year-old woman were asleep at their Rose­wood Dri­ve home at around 2 am, when three armed ban­dits broke in.

The cou­ple was tied up with wire as the man was pis­tol-whipped. The ban­dits stole $1,500 in cash and the keys to their white Nis­san B15 be­fore es­cap­ing in the stolen car.

The cou­ple even­tu­al­ly freed them­selves and were tak­en to the hos­pi­tal by a neigh­bour.

Of­fi­cers of the East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force found the car aban­doned on the Va­len­cia Old Road and lat­er towed it to the Va­len­cia Po­lice Post for fur­ther analy­sis. In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the male home­own­er is in sta­ble con­di­tion and was await­ing the re­sults of a CT scan yes­ter­day.

Of­fi­cers of the Va­len­cia CID are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
