Officers of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF), the Port of Spain Division seized a quantity of knives, scissors and improvised weapons during a series of roadblocks early on Monday morning.
Police said officers from various units began the exercise at around 2 am, staging roadblocks on the Eastern Main Road and the Priority Bus Route, near the Success Laventille Secondary School.
The officers supported by the police Canine Unit searched several maxi taxis and cars where they found and confiscated knives, scissors, ice picks and glass bottles.
The officers said they searched a 20-year-old Oropune man and found a hammer.
Officers confiscated the hammer, however he cursed at police.
The officers warned the man but he continued to resist so they arrested him.
