Police are investigating the death of a Tobago pensioner who they say sleepwalked and fell from the upstairs banister of his home yesterday morning.
Officers said Albert Prince, 77, of Main Road, Bethel, was found dead on the ground floor after he was last seen resting in bed on Monday night.
His wife, Irene Murray-Prince, told police she fed him upstairs around 10.30 pm, then went downstairs and went to sleep.
She said she woke around 6.30 am, went to check on her husband, and did not see him in the room. After searching the house, she noticed a door to the banister slightly open and found Prince lying on the ground below.
Police said the banister has no railing. Snr Supt Earl Elie said police officers are working on the theory that Prince sleepwalked and fell over the banister.
An autopsy is expected to be done soon. Investigations are ongoing.
