A Mt Lam­bert cou­ple who op­er­ate a mi­ni-mart from their home have been charged with mar­i­jua­na pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing, af­ter al­le­ga­tions they were sell­ing drugs to school­child­ren.

The 78-year-old man and his 49-year-old wife were ar­rest­ed fol­low­ing a search of their prop­er­ty around 2.25 pm on Wednes­day, dur­ing which time of­fi­cers found 1,097 grammes of mar­i­jua­na.

Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion, PC Ban­doo and a team from the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Gang & In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit vis­it­ed Blue’s Mi­ni Mart on Cir­cu­lar Road, Mt Lam­bert, and con­duct­ed a com­pre­hen­sive search in front of the cou­ple.

The of­fi­cers were in­formed that the pair had been sell­ing nar­cotics to school­child­ren.

Both were sub­se­quent­ly charged with mar­i­jua­na pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.
