On Tuesday, a couple was robbed at their home in Aranguez, shortly after returning from their business.
Police said around 9:05 pm, as the couple entered their front door, they were confronted by three men who forced them inside and announced a robbery.
The suspects, all described as males of African descent, demanded money from the couple. One suspect, armed with a cutlass, tied the victims' hands with tie straps before the group ransacked their home.
The robbers stole a total of $54,000 in cash, as well as two cell phones valued at a combined $10,000. Additionally, the thieves took the keys to the couple's white Toyota Aqua, which they used to flee the scene.
Investigating officers visited the scene, interviewed witnesses, and reviewed CCTV footage from neighbouring homes. A request was also made to the Cyber Crime Unit to track the stolen cell phones.
However, despite extensive efforts, the vehicle and suspects remain at large.
The incident was captured on surveillance cameras and its footage went viral on social media.
Investigations continue.
