Students of the Couva East Secondary School were triumphant when they competed against 34 other schools from across the country in the 3rd Secondary Schools’ Business Simulation Competition.

The award ceremony took place at the UWI Arthur Lok Jack School of Business in Mount Hope yesterday morning, where many prizes were given out to the top-performing schools. This year, UWI Arthur Lok Jack awarded the top three teams partial scholarships for the Bachelor of International Business programme.

The competition, which is officially endorsed by the Ministry of Education, was designed for students in Forms Five and Six, providing them with a practical approach that enhances their classroom learning.

Each school entered a team of mixed Form Five and Six students and a teacher, navigating eight rounds of intensive real-world business simulations split up into two stages. This experience gave students the chance to apply knowledge from their business courses to solve realistic challenges, practising both critical thinking and teamwork. The winning team from Couva East Secondary comprised teacher Lisa Nagassar and students Skye Craig, André Ali Boucas, Alexandra Hosein, Sandrina Deo and Jaron Metivier.

Fatima College placed third with their team consisting of teacher Nikolas Reece and students Jafari Denalli, Sterlin Russell, Jorlen Romero, Adyn Sangster and Matthew Renwick. In second place was Naparima College, with teacher Annaleah Doodnath and students Narin Ramdath, Mathieu Beharry, Josiah Rajack, Yuri Mohammed and Kaelon Winchester.
