The Customs and Excise Division says officers made four separate narcotics seizures over the past week during routine operational activities.
In a release issued today, the Division said the interceptions led to the confiscation of 38.998 kilogrammes of marijuana, eight ampoules of fentanyl, one vial of ketamine, and 0.606 kilogrammes of MDMA. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $9,737,800, while the MDMA is valued at $1,515,000.
Customs said several people were arrested in connection with the seizures and have already appeared before the Magistrates’ Court. Investigations are continuing.
The Division said the operations reflect its ongoing efforts to protect Trinidad and Tobago’s borders from illicit narcotics and other forms of smuggling, and noted that it continues to use intelligence-led strategies, advanced screening, and inter-agency collaboration to detect prohibited goods.
