A 21-year-old maintenance worker was shot and killed on Monday night while liming with friends at Ragoo Drive, Waterwheel, Diego Martin.
The victim, Samuel Johnson of Bridge Road, was reportedly among a group of people liming around 10.20 p.m. when a man armed with a gun approached and opened fire. Johnson was struck multiple times about the body and collapsed at the scene. The gunman fled on foot.
Shortly after, a group of people placed Johnson in a beige Nissan Almera and began driving him to the St James Medical Complex. They encountered first responders on patrol in the area, who escorted them to the hospital. Johnson was pronounced dead at 10.57 p.m. while receiving treatment.
Crime scene investigators recovered 14 spent 9mm shells, two projectiles, a bullet fragment, and other items of evidential value.
A post-mortem is expected. Investigations are ongoing.
