West­ern Di­vi­sion po­lice were yes­ter­day search­ing for a man who in­jured his girl­friend dur­ing an ar­gu­ment and left her ly­ing on the road bleed­ing.

Po­lice said the 39-year-old woman, from Diego Mar­tin, was en­gaged in a heat­ed ar­gu­ment with the sus­pect on the road out­side her home around 3 am on Tues­day — when rel­a­tives heard her cry out.

As they rushed out­side, they found the woman ly­ing on the road with a wound to the back of her neck.

The woman’s broth­er con­tact­ed the po­lice, who ar­rived lat­er and took her to the St James Med­ical Cen­tre where she was treat­ed and dis­charged.

Sev­er­al search­es for the sus­pect proved fu­tile.
