Hun­dreds of peo­ple got their vac­ci­na­tions with­in 15 min­utes as Pro­man Lim­it­ed ex­e­cut­ed the third day of dri­ve-through mass vac­ci­na­tions at the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um in Cou­va.

With on­ly 25 vol­un­teers, the ini­tia­tive was laud­ed for its ef­fi­cien­cy and pro­fes­sion­al­ism as it was rolled out seam­less­ly through­out the day.

As news cir­cu­lat­ed on so­cial me­dia, peo­ple with­out ap­point­ments al­so came. These walk-ins were fa­cil­i­tat­ed in a sep­a­rate sec­tion while the dri­ve-through vac­ci­na­tions took place si­mul­ta­ne­ous­ly.

The for­mer head of the Na­tion­al Op­er­a­tions Cen­tre, Garvin Heer­ah, was al­so on hand to over­see op­er­a­tions. Peo­ple came from through­out the coun­try for vac­cines.

Vidya Thomas of Ari­ma said: "This is ex­cel­lent ser­vice. I reg­is­tered for the vac­cine on­line and I got through. I am a teacher, and my el­der­ly moth­er is bedrid­den, so I want­ed to get vac­ci­nat­ed," Thomas said.

Dr Nathaniel Anoop, who is a vol­un­teer, said 570 vac­cines were giv­en on the first day, while 1,100 were done on the sec­ond day, and 1,000 vac­cines were sched­uled for Wednes­day.

He said the event was well co­or­di­nat­ed be­cause of the pro­fes­sion­al­ism and ef­fi­cien­cy of the vol­un­teers.

Brent Thomas and Re­nal­do Co­dring­ton, who al­so were vac­ci­nat­ed, said they were thank­ful for the kind­ness and pa­tience of the staff.

Co­dring­ton said he was ner­vous at first but felt hap­py as he was out of the venue with­in 15 min­utes.

The dri­ve-through vac­ci­na­tion process at Ato Boldon Sta­di­um will con­tin­ue through­out this week.
