The Ministry of Education has launched a full investigation into a violent altercation between a student and a teacher at the Arima North Secondary School after a video of the incident circulated on social media.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry expressed “deep concern” over the behaviour captured in the footage, stressing that such actions undermine the values of respect, discipline, and responsibility that schools are meant to uphold.
Officials confirmed that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against all those found responsible, in accordance with the Education Act, Ministry policy, and national laws.
“The integrity of the learning environment remains paramount,” the Ministry said, adding that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward violence and indiscipline in schools.
The statement further noted that the Ministry will continue to collaborate with school administrations, parents, and law enforcement to ensure classrooms remain safe and secure spaces for all students.
