The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) has issued new guidelines for Public Notices to be followed by members of the public applying for Noise Variation Permits under the Noise Pollution Control Rules.
Entertainment stakeholders also are being reminded by the EMA to adhere to the existing Code of Practice governing noise control.
“The EMA takes this opportunity to remind all in the Entertainment Industry that A Code of Practice for the Control of Noise in the Music Entertainment Industry in Trinidad and Tobago was established, which outlines guidelines for the use of noise control barriers, causes and effects of hearing loss and strategies for the entertainment industry,” the EMA says in its advisory.
It added: “The EMA also calls on citizens to act responsibly and respectfully to their neighbours and in their communities, understanding that noise pollution is deleterious to all.”
The new guidelines for Public Notices came into effect as of Monday 5 September 2022:
The public is reminded to adhere to these pertinent details when preparing notices:
1. Notice must be of minimum dimension: 3cm (W) x 10 cm (H).
2. All other conditions remain the same, including the publication of the Notice in any one of the daily newspapers for two (2) consecutive days.
3. Notices must appear at least thirty-five (35) days before the event/activity.
The EMA invites the public to view a sample of the new format in a detailed advertisement template on its website at www.ema.co.tt
