A non-profit organisation, En ToTo, has distributed 6,000 stationery kits to students of 180 primary schools throughout Trinidad and Tobago who will be sitting the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) on Thursday.
However, the group said that Tobago was not included this year as it was reliably informed that the island had secured donors for the SEA candidates which number closer to 1,000.
The group has been distributing SEA kits to students for several years. This year, the funds raised for the donations did not include any assistance from the Ministry of Education.
However,
Among those who assisted in the drive were the principal of the Belmont Government Primary School Roxanne De Freitas, Principal of the Petit Valley Girls’ RC Carol Richards and Principal of St Ursula’s Primary, Alicia Bowen.
“Their willingness to assist went above and beyond the call of duty,” a statement from En Toto said.
The organisation also recognised “the patience, humility and support of the chair, Port-of-Spain & Environs Education District, Dr Quamina-Ross” and several school supervisors who also helped to make it possible.
