The Board of the Energy Chamber of Trinidad & Tobago has accepted the resignation of its president and chief executive officer, Dr Thackwray (Dax) Driver, effective March 31, 2026.
No reason was given for his departure.
In a statement issued this morning, the Board said it “extends its sincere thanks to Dr Driver for his 24 years of service to the organisation and the wider energy sector” and confirmed that a formal transition plan is underway.
The statement said the Board will review the Chamber’s strategic plan and core activities to ensure they remain fit for purpose and aligned with members’ evolving needs.
It added that a recruitment process to identify a successor will begin immediately, with an interim leader to be appointed during the transition.
Dr Driver has led the organisation since 2002 and guided the Chamber through a period of significant change in the energy sector.
Chairperson Mala Baliraj thanked him “on behalf of the Board, staff and members” for his steady leadership, saying his work strengthened the organisation and had a broad impact across the energy supply and value chain. She said his commitment to safe operations would remain a hallmark of his legacy and wished him well in his next chapter.
Dr Driver said it had been “a privilege to lead the Energy Chamber” and that he was proud of what the organisation had achieved. He expressed confidence that the Chamber is well positioned to continue supporting energy-sector development in Trinidad and Tobago and the wider region, and thanked the Board, staff and members for their support.
The Board said it remains committed to continuity of leadership and maintaining high standards of service to members throughout the recruitment and handover period, adding that further details on the interim appointment and CEO search process will be provided when finalised.
