National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds has said that Udecott postponed yesterday’s planned opening of the Point Fortin Fire Station due to “event logistics”.
Hinds was replying to UNC Senator Wade Mark’s query on the reasons for the postponement of yesterday’s opening of the station, given Hinds’ assurance on the matter in the Senate on Monday.
Hinds said he was advised by Udecott that due to “event logistics”, they had to reschedule the opening to a new date.
“And I as Minister complied. This is Udecott’s project. Although the ceremonial opening has been rescheduled, the officer in charge of the men and women who will be stationed there has moved in and they continue—they began recently- the process of moving in. So ready for business the place is.
“As I did on Monday and reaffirm today, the T&T Fire Service remains available. The station—because of the dilapidated condition of the building of which it occupied—the officers moved to another location in the vicinity so they remain available to the calls from the people of Point Fortin and environs,” he added. - Gail Alexander
