A fam­i­ly of four es­caped with­out in­jury af­ter a fire par­tial­ly de­stroyed their home in Low­lands, To­ba­go, on Sat­ur­day af­ter­noon.

Around 4:50 pm, the home­own­er re­turned to find flames com­ing from a room on the north­ern side of the up­stairs por­tion of the two-storey house. She alert­ed her hus­band and two chil­dren, who were in­side at the time, and they all ran to safe­ty.

Fire of­fi­cers from the Scar­bor­ough sta­tion re­spond­ed and ex­tin­guished the blaze. About half of the build­ing was dam­aged.

The cause of the fire has not yet been de­ter­mined.
