THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine is alleging a conspiracy involving the prime minister and other PNM officials as well as the Commissioner of Police, to discredit his administration.
This morning at a special plenary sitting of the THA Augustine played video recordings of what he said was a whistleblower who claimed to be a participant in the scheme and was expected to be paid for a witness statement and a statutory declaration.
The whistleblower also claimed to have been threatened to comply with the instructions from the officials.
During the sitting, Augustine also presented images of the recent police search warrants executed on THA officials including himself. Augustine claimed the recent developments were tantamount to political persecution.
Farley said he has instructed his attorneys to write to the President, the Police Commissioner and the Police Complaints Authority regarding his possession of evidence suggesting bribery, improper political behaviour, police misbehaviour and corruption and that the current police investigation was not fair or transparent.
