A 28-year-old se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cer was fa­tal­ly stabbed with a Geom­e­try com­pass dur­ing an al­ter­ca­tion with a fe­male rel­a­tive at La Brea last night.

Adana Si­mon of Freel­ing Street, La Brea, was tak­en to the Point Fortin Hos­pi­tal, where she suc­cumbed to her in­juries some­time af­ter 1 a.m. to­day.

Po­lice said around 9.30 pm on Tues­day, Si­mon got in­to an al­ter­ca­tion with her 41-year-old rel­a­tive at Queen Street and was stabbed with the com­pass sev­er­al times. An EHS am­bu­lance re­spond­ed and took both women to the hos­pi­tal.

The rel­a­tive was ar­rest­ed af­ter be­ing med­ical­ly ex­am­ined and sub­se­quent­ly tak­en to the Point Fortin Po­lice Sta­tion.

The po­lice seized the com­pass. Of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion 3 are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
