Four people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a business place located along South Central Road in the vicinity of the Dunlop Roundabout, Point Fortin, which occurred at about 10:00 am on Monday.

The Police Service says the men, aged 21 to 25 years, will be charged with robbery with aggravation. It is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or via the TTPS emergency hotlines.

According to police reports, two victims—a 52-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, both self-employed and residents of Clarke Road, Penal—were conducting business when they were approached by two unmasked men.

The victims told police one of the suspects was armed with a firearm.

The assailants reportedly robbed the victims of TT$800 in cash and a black Samsung mobile phone valued at TT$1,000 before fleeing the scene in a gold Nissan Almera. They appeared to be proceeding in the direction of the highway.

The TTPS says a swift broadcast of the vehicle’s description was made by officers of the Southwestern Division Operations Centre (SWDOC).

Officers of the Oropouche Police Station and the Southwestern Division Task Force quickly intercepted the suspect vehicle in the vicinity of the Guapo Roundabout.

Four male suspects were arrested during the operation: a 25-year-old man, of Morvant; a 21-year-old man of Oropouche; a 22-year-old man, of Aripero; and a 21-year-old man of St Barbs

The vehicle used in the robbery was seized and conveyed to the Point Fortin Police Station for further processing.

Investigations are ongoing and charges are expected to be laid in due course.
