Four individuals have been charged in connection with two separate murders and the seizure of several firearms and quantities of ammunition this week.
Gary St. Hillaire, aka ‘Gary Boy’, 22, Malcolm Campbell, aka ‘Gabriel’, 22 and Tevin Celestine, 32, all of Maraval, were arrested by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, (HBI) Region One and Western Division Task Force (WDTF), on August 4.
They were wanted in connection with the death of 18-year-old Roger Celestine and the wounding of a male victim, on August 3, in the Maraval district.
Celestine, was in the company of other persons at his Paramin home when they were accosted by a group of armed men who shot at them. The victim died at the scene, while another man was taken to hospital for treatment.
The trio was charged with the offences of murder and attempted murder.
The accused are expected to appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate on Friday August 11 to answer to the charges.
Meanwhile, Kareem Balgobin, 22, of Point Fortin, appeared in the Point Fortin Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, charged with the murder of Tevin Stefon Francois which occurred on June 28.
The matter was adjourned to August 21.
Reports indicate that on June 28, officers found the lifeless body of the victim with wounds to his head and face at Mc Kenzie Fields Road, Point Fortin.
Balgobin is the second person charged in connection with this murder.
Officers previously charged 28-year-old Yunus Ali of Cedros with the offence on July 21.
