A La Horquetta man freed himself from his kidnappers on Sunday morning and reported the matter to police, while one suspect has been arrested.
Police said the victim arrived at the Arouca Police Station around 11 am carrying a pistol and reported that he had been kidnapped from his La Horquetta home following a card game with men known to him.
He told officers that he was taken to a forested area in Bertie Hill, Arouca, where he managed to seize a firearm belonging to one of his captors before escaping.
Officers of the Arouca Police Station Charge Room and the North Central Division Task Force later visited the area and arrested one suspect.
Investigators said the suspect is in his early twenties and is expected to be interviewed.
Officers of the TTPS Air Support Unit also assisted at the scene.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and several key details in the reported kidnapping remain unclear.
